Proposal to limit work permits
Issuance of work permits for unskilled labour will restricted. Highly skilled migrants are welcomed. The newly installed government did some proposals to change the Act on Employment of Foreigners:
– Quota / limit for the number of work permits issued in certain sectors;
– Maximum duration of 1 year for a work permit;
– Renewal of work permits not possible;
– Work permit can be refused if company has been fined for employment related offence;
– Free access to Dutch labour market after 5 years.
